These boroughs (cities) are something like independent countries that have borders and believe it or not, most people raised in one of these ‘countries’ often never step foot into another unless it is absolutely necessary (i.e. work, meeting, etc.). It is like an unwritten passage in the New Yorker handbook because most homegrown New Yorkers are loyal to their borough. I hail from the borough of Brooklyn and I can attest to the fact that when I was growing up, I rarely stepped foot outside of Brooklyn or even my neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant.
One of Manhattan’s famous landmarks is Times Square, located in the middle of it all on world famous 42nd St and Broadway. Many types and colors of fluorescent lights illuminate the area, where people are seen partying, having fun, and enjoying life almost as if it were Mardi Gras [in New Orleans] every day.
