Halloween has become nothing more than jack o’ lanterns, trick or treating, and costumes. Most of us have come to believe that it is nothing more than an excuse to dress up and get intoxicated. Yet we don’t know that Halloween is an ancient ritual, much like The Day of The dead, brought by generations of immigrants and celebrated today. Though The Day of The Dead is a Spanish ritual celebrated by many South American countries, honoring the dead by using skulls. Much like it is for the Celtic people and the Catholic Church who brought Halloween. For thousands of years Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos has been an annual ritual celebrated by many. ...

It was said that around this time of year “on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred” (Ancient Origins). Resulting in a door for spirits where the deceased could travel free amongst the living causing chaos. Feralia was the festival where the people would honor the dead. The other festival was to remember the goddess of fruit and trees, that the Romans, called Pomona.
