How to save a life

I never knew how important I was to some people until I thought about this essay. Especially during a time where it felt like I was a window that people would stare through, as if I wasn’t there. Even though I had it all; two loving parents and two talented and supportive younger brothers, it felt like I had nothing and that I was nothing.
My family moved to St. Charles from Chicago because they wanted my brothers and me to get a better education and meet new friends. I was devastated that we were moving so far away from my family members. My uncle caused my grandparents pain by excluding them from their grand daughter’s birthday party. I remember sitting with my grandma at her kitchen table one night just talking to her. I looked into her eyes where I saw something I never saw before: deep sorrow. Her eyes were glassy and purple circles had formed underneath them. She had obviously been crying a lot, and I could remember just wanting to take a hammer and just break her pain and watch it shatter; freeing her.
The hell continued for me into my sophomore year as it seemed everyone I loved and cared for died. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and became suicidal from dealing with my childhood, struggling with getting bullied and loosing and creating friendship.
