As all members of the district stands before a screen, ``War, terrible war'' booms through the speakers at the reaping for the 74th annual Hunger Games. In Panem, war is punishment as a result of an uprising against the nation's Capitol, contradicting to George Orwell's slogan ``War is peace'' in his book 1984. The world George Orwell envisioned in 1984 was not especially irrelevant, from past and present evidence though, it is less likely to actually happen than The Hunger Games.

An article from www.reallifehungergames.com describes details on his event, and states is not a result of horrific rebellion (like it was in the movie). One competes in order to gain control of his or her life and fight for the title of champion. Perhaps this event may become more popular in the future, and become a new fad to participate in.

Television programs in today's society exposes people to all kinds of nonsense. For example, a Toddlers and Tiaras showcase children in pageants competing for victory. The show A Game of Thrones on HBO is very gory and graphic, and even though it is all fake and acting, it is brutally horrifying at parts.
