What is sickle cell anemia? Sickle cell is a disorder in which the body makes red-blood cells shaped like a crescent. Red-blood cells are supposed to be flexible and doughnut like but sickle cells are stiff and curved which makes it hard for them to squeeze through the vessels. The main purpose of the red-blood is too carry oxygen to the body without any clogs but in sickle cell anemia the blood is blocked in the vessels and it prevents it from entering organs and other major parts of the body.
