The Korean War
For Americans, the end of World War II brought a lot of peace. But between the Soviet Union and the United States, apprehension grew because the U.S. was worried that the Soviet Union would spread communism to other nations. In the midst of the Cold War, and with the Truman Doctrine, the U.S. was aware that they had to control the spread of communism in Europe. But that control soon stretched to Asia. Because of that control, a battle erupted in Asia in the name of the “Korean War” (N.A.R.A).

At that time, America had less than 600,000 troops and were not prepared, but the Truman Administration did promise to do anything to stop communism from spreading, so Truman immediately sent General MacArthur to take the U.S. troops from Japan to aid the Americans in Seoul. Truman also took the step to approach the UN in hopes of a response (Ganzel).
MacArthur started feeling overly confident as he decided to make a few attacks towards China, and in the end did, defying direct orders from the President. He even wanted to use the atomic bomb against China, but was fired in the end.
