The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, the heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary, on 28 June 1914, is classified as the immediate ignition of the global conflict. In conjunction with the application of imperialistic policies, these can be seen as long-term issues to Europe, creating a crucial backbone and sustenance for future war. Consequently, due to Ferdinand’s assassination by Yugoslav nationalists, this caused a Habsburg provocation in antagonism to the Kingdom of Serbia.
