Bullying Adolescents

The film Bully is about a group of obviously trouble adolescents who viciously murder a friend that bullies them. One of the main Character’s is Marty Puccio, has been friends with Bobby Kent since they were kids and Bobby became very violent and started to bully Marty. Later in the movie, Bobby and Marty who works at a sub shop meets these two girls, Lisa and Ali. Marty and Lisa instantly form a relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend. Lisa witnesses how badly Bobby treats Marty and comes up with a plan to kill him after she is impregnated by Marty. Marty the most tormented one by Bobby I felt was the most ignored and lonely person out of all the characters. In the movie, his parents did not really care about what was going on in life. Even when he confronted them about moving, because he was not happy they laughed it off and said they were not going to move because of how he feels. This type of parenting according to Arnett is called Disengaged. His parent’s did not really expect much from him, they did not show him much love, or concern for his problems. They did not even bother to ask him what was troubling him or how they could have help. His parents were concerned about their selves and they jobs.
