First of all, let me introduce Rebecca Bostic. Becky is a 42 year old mother of 3. Her eldest is an adult and is married and has given her a grandchild. She still has 2 teenage sons living at home. Becky falls into the largest minority group, the disabled poor. She has been disabled for 9 years now and has little hope of getting herself out of poverty. Her life began in Virginia, where she grew up with 3 siblings to a middle-class family. Her parents divorced and her father moved to Charleston, WV, while her mother stayed in Virginia. with the man. She then went outside and was followed by the couple. The girl had gotten into her vehicle and they kept arguing through the window. The girl got angered and ran Becky over with her vehicle. Senseless? Yes, I agree. The girl fled while the people that witnessed it called an ambulance. Although Becky's life was spared, it was never the same and will never again be the same. She lost her leg in the assault and now she walks with a prosthetic leg.
Becky has always been a drinker. She binge drinks and has always been life of the party. However, drug abuse was never accepted. She always had a designated driver and her children were always left with dependable adults, so she thought the only person she was hurting was herself. While she was at the hospital they gave her morphine and everything else for pain, but nothing helped her emotional pain of knowing life as she knew it was over.
