It is the 25th of January 1995, Manchester United is having a tough match at Crystal Palace. 1 The match is not remembered for the display of beautifully played football or for the weather. No, the match is remembered because of one action: the infamous `kung-fu kick' by Eric Cantona. Cantona, known as a notorious hot-head, had a pretty impressive CV of yellow and red cards. it. The result of this action is a red card and Cantona has to leave the game. This happens without too much protest by Cantona, but his teammates are protesting loudly. Unfortunately for Manchester United without much effect, the card is already given and Cantona is slowly walking off the pitch past the tribune filled with Crystal palace supporters. What happens next is one of the most notable actions in Eric Cantona's football career. A fan shouts something to Cantona which leads to that he completely loses his temper. He runs towards the fan and launches a `kung-fu' kick'. Earsplitting boos follow. The Manchester United keeper, Schmeichel, runs towards Cantona and starts yelling to him. The manager of Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson, does not even blink. Cantona is escorted of the pitch and the match continues. The game ends with a 1-1 draw.
