Global Gender Issues

Gender stereotypes can be seen in many realms of capitalist society-from the economy to wartime policies to domestic arrangements. Gender dichotomies can be seen in the dichotomy between paid and unpaid work; production vs reproduction; skilled vs unskilled labor. All the first in these pairs are the realm of the masculine, and the second the realm of the feminine. We think of men's work as labor for profit, and women's work as labor for love. We think of a woman's wages as "pin money" and a man's as "breadwinner."
