Goals & Obstacles:

My goal for these five weeks is to lose 5 pounds and get my BMI from 24 to 23. I plan on achieving this goal by eating a healthy diet and using the insanity workouts to help burn off the excess fat stores in the body. Preferably I will eat every 3-4 hours to keep my metabolism at a constant rate. The diet will consist of high amounts of protein and non-starchy vegetables. Obstacles include getting myself to eat more veggies regularly. I have a tendency to deviate from a healthy diet from time to time. one single type of movement for a long period of time. Typically one exercise is not repeated for longer than a couple of minutes. Thus the results from HIIT are faster than repetitive isolated workouts(like only walking, or running). As mentioned in the ACSM book these are great aerobic exercises(requiring free oxygen) are great but combining them with other exercise proliferates their health benefits. My routine includes lunges, push-ups, jumping jacks, sit ups and power jacks. I am extra careful when performing my lunges because if the knee surpasses how far the toe is then the exercise is contraindicated (one that can have potentially more harm than the benefit it provides). The reason I chose the insanity workout is because it is essentially a cardio program combined with some muscle building properties.
