Take a look around any big gym. You'll probably see a wide variety of different people, ranging from the meatheads with melon-sized arms to the scrawny teenagers trying to get big for the ladies. They'll hit set after set after set of each exercise. Maybe its chest day. Maybe it's back day. God help you if it's leg day. But on they go, working out sometimes for hours at a time. The more experienced lifters will use advanced methods like drop sets and super-setting, and if they're ambitious they'll hit the gym twice in a day.

I'm going to make a claim that might sound a little crazy at first. I'm going to go against a very widespread belief about what should be done in the weight room. I'm going to call out people like Arnold Schwarzenegger for leading countless eager young bodybuilders down a road of relentless overtraining. And most importantly, I'm going to say that when it comes to lifting weights, less is better. Now that's not to say that you shouldn't go to the gym. No, less doesn't mean avoiding the gym completely. It simply means that there are ways of maximizing your efficiency in the gym, ways of spending less time in there and getting better(if not the best) results. I'm referring, of course, to the widely unknown protocol of high intensity training.
