Pearl Harbor
This was the beginning of the war for America, the Pearl Harbor Attack by the Japanese. The attack was done when Pearl Harbor was defenseless, many American soldiers were killed, and it caused problems throughout five countries. Pearl Harbor was one of the most devastating attacks on American soil in history, and propelled the United States to join World War II.

during the attack, by some of Japans best forces. Vice Admiral Chuich Nagumo was the leader of the Pearl Harbor Strike Force (Intro to Attack). The Japanese forces consisted of six aircraft carriers: the Akagi, Kaga, Soryu, Hiryu, Shokaku, and Zuikaku. Also, about 420 planes, but 360 took part in the attack (Pearl Harbor Raid). They also had battleships, destroyers, cruisers, and tankers to fuel the ships (Intro to Attack). The attack started at 0755 hours on December 7[th], 1941, and ended just before 1000 hours (Intro to Attack). The Navy and Marines suffered 2,896 casualties (Navy-2008, Marines-109) 779 wounded (Navy-710, Marines-69). The Army lost 228 soldiers, 113 were severely injured, and 346 were slightly wounded.
